The Porsche 597. I’d never heard of this thing until recently. It shared an engine with a 356, it was amphibious, and a clean example now goes for !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . I love the recessed spare tire up front and the crazy windshield rake. It was nicknamed “Jagdwagen,” or “hunting car,” but “Yagd Vaggen” is more fun to say. Jagdwagen, as in Jägermeister. It looks quite like the DKW Munga/VW Iltis from where I’m sitting.

Whoops. I knew that. Fixed. And the Munga actually won the contract, which is why there are so few Jagdwagens.

I only thought of the Munga because I saw a pair of them over the weekend!
